AS Afflatus 16 Character Interview Two

Mon Oct 08, 2018 1:10 am

https://www.chickensmoothie.com/Forum/v ... ?t=3924888

1. What are your character’s thoughts and feelings about the supernatural?
I mean, he kind of would be considered supernatural himself, wouldn’t he? He has canine ears and a tail, after all. He also knows others like himself exist.

2. Does your character see themselves growing old with a spouse at their side or do they have different plans?
He’s considered it, but right now all he really thinks about is helping his mother raise his two sisters and brother. He knows if something happens, he’ll have to take them on himself.

3. What is your character’s favorite book?
He likes books about dogs, and there’s one called Pepsi and Cola (or Pepsi and Sprite? The dogs are named after sodas)

4. If your character had to relocate somewhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Probably Japan, or maybe Canada, because he has family in Canada, but also knows of at least one aunt who’s in Japan.

5. What does the word ‘family’ mean to your character?
It means absolutely everything, as he’s a canine, after all. You also have to expect, from how he helps with the three kids, that he puts family first.

6. Has your character ever had a broken heart? Did they trust that person again - or would they?
He hasn’t had a broken heart, yet...

7. Does your character have a spiritual side?
He does, as his parents are Jewish dog people.

8. How would your character cope in a crisis?
He’s a dog...so depending, sometimes he tries to be calm, but sometimes he goes into full panic mode.

9. Your character’s thoughts and opinions on the word ‘forgiveness.’
He’s a dog, so he’s forgiven people before. He gets mad about murder and evil, though.

10. What does your character think about when they are alone?
His siblings, mom, that Dad comes home from work safe, food, etc.

11. What is the one thing your character dislikes about their life?
That his mother is weak, because he loves her and doesn’t want her to pass away.

12. If your character came into money, what is the first thing they would do?
He’d fund a medical place to save his mother, and get a bigger house with more outside area for his siblings to play.

13. If your character were immortal, how would they feel about it?
He’d be sad, because his mother would still be unwell...and his little siblings would leave him behind when they got old.

14. Is your character a coffee or tea person? Or neither?
He’s neither, really...he likes water a lot.

15. What does your character dream about?
He dreams about his mother being better, and running and playing with her and his siblings. He sometimes dreams of Dad getting home early, and bringing stuffed toys and treats.

    • 1. What are your character’s thoughts and feelings about the supernatural?
Joel doesn't believe in anything that can't be seen, studied, and experimented. As anything supernatural would not fall into any of those categories (to his personal beliefs), they are fit for nothing but scary stories around a campfire. And even then, he'd rather hear something a little more realistic.

      2. Does your character see themselves growing old with a spouse at their side or do they have different plans?
Joel's whole life and existence has been put into Jeshi. He thinks of nothing but its future and would not allow a significant other to get in the way.

      3. What is your character’s favorite book?
      The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

      4. If your character had to relocate somewhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Berlin, Germany. Joel would love to live in a big city full of activity, an extraordinary change to where he currently resides. As for why Berlin, Joel has a fascination with the aged architecture and its rich history.

      5. What does the word ‘family’ mean to your character?
A group of people he shamed and left many, many years ago.

      6. Has your character ever had a broken heart? Did they trust that person again - or would they?
Not in the romantic sense. He broke his own heart when he let his family down and was forced to leave them. Of course, he still trusts them and wishes them the very best in life. Unfortunately, he can never return.

      7. Does your character have a spiritual side?
Joel has no beliefs outside of what he can see, touch, and feel.

      8. How would your character cope in a crisis?
A crisis happens every other day in Jeshi. He takes them head on, never wavering in the face of whatever might be happening around him, even as his 'leader' tries to tear down everything that's been built up around him. He does his absolute best to keep things from falling apart.

      9. Your character’s thoughts and opinions on the word ‘forgiveness.’
      Forgiveness can be deadly.

      10. What does your character think about when they are alone?
Why things have turned out the way they have and what led him to this exact point in his life. He thinks about Emeric a lot, from cherished memories to recent conflicts. He also thinks about the function and mechanics of whatever is sitting in front of him and how he might improve it.

      11. What is the one thing your character dislikes about their life?
      Emeric Easton Garcia.

      12. If your character came into money, what is the first thing they would do?
Joel doesn't need anymore money. He has plenty. He mostly spends his funds on fixing what's broken around the Jeshi household. Some of his more extravagant purchases are made on clothing. Coming from a family that dabbled heavily in the tailoring industry, he has an eye for costly clothing.

      13. If your character were immortal, how would they feel about it?
Pretty dang good. There would be absolutely nothing to lose.

      14. Is your character a coffee or tea person? Or neither?
Hot tea with one sugar, preferably mint-flavored.

      15. What does your character dream about?
The scary, black ocean waves at nighttime. Often he falls in. Or trying to jumble the responsibilities of being handed the whole world to rule.

    • 1. What are your character’s thoughts and feelings about the supernatural?
Not much goes through his mind in terms of the supernatural, and he looks at creatures almost as if they were human, or any other being. He believes that any and all creatures, no matter how big or small; have hearts, brains, thoughts and personal ideals that they hold dear to themselves. And just because one being has different ideals doesn't mean that another being has to conform to those, especially if it's not in their nature. Though, being a nephilim himself, he tends not to judge anybody or anything.

      2. Does your character see themselves growing old with a spouse at their side or do they have different plans?
The thought of growing old is a worry that eludes his mind, but no. He doesn't imagine that there will be a spouse anywhere near in the future. And, he's not in a rush to marry. Situations usually just comes and goes, and he isn't too fond of planning so far ahead in the future, especially since he feels as though he has all of the time in the world. All he knows is that he would love to help as many people/beings as much as he can before he eventually dies out.

      3. What is your character’s favorite book?
Reading is more of his elder brother's thing; but if he had to choose, it would have to be Alice in Wonderland. The children's book brings a certain comfort, and he finds that there's something in the main character that reminds him of the stories that people used to tell him about his own mother.

      4. If your character had to relocate somewhere in the world, where would it be and why?
He hasn't explored the world nearly as enough as he's explored the depths of Hell. He's also one to take comfort in people rather than places, and is a firm believer that home is where the heart is; and the people he takes comfort in the most would have to be his father, Penemuel, and eventually Jaspar. Cim is also a person that he half trusts, but he finds that even that is a stretch.

      5. What does the word ‘family’ mean to your character?
Family is a value that should always come first. Something that can't and shouldn't be betrayed. Though, his brother's don't share the same kind of belief that he does; the belief that family is something to be cherished and fought for, rather than to fight with.

      6. Has your character ever had a broken heart? Did they trust that person again - or would they?
Yes, but only later on when he realized just how real death is for the humans that had left them behind. Another instance of heartbreak is from his brothers, but he forgives them for fighting with him and constantly wronging him. It's never in his heart to hold a grudge for very long, and often finds that he gets sick with himself if he holds onto any anger for a long time as well.

      7. Does your character have a spiritual side?
Maybe not to the extent where he would kill for his beliefs to be heard, but perhaps just a little bit.

      8. How would your character cope in a crisis?
If he was going through a crisis he'd probably just cry and/or run away to a spot that he takes comfort in. However, if someone else is trying to cope with a crisis, then he'd try to do everything in his power to make them feel alright again. He finds it easier to deal with the problems of others rather than his own, and often fails to recognize his own problems/problematic situations right away.

      9. Your character’s thoughts and opinions on the word ‘forgiveness.’
Everybody deserves forgiveness. Life is too short to stay angry at someone, and he's one to believe that forgiveness brings people together in one way or another. Anger is a dangerous thing to hold onto, and toxicity can dramatically shorten ones life span. So, in most cases forgiveness can be the most necessary thing in the world.

      10. What does your character think about when they are alone?
He finds that his thoughts always wander off to his mother; stories of her and who she used to be. Often times he wears a silver locket that was given to him by her, and when opened it plays a little bit of a melody that he could only assume was something that she sang to him to get him to fall asleep. He also thinks about his family in-general, as well as possible hobbies he might want to pick up in the future.

      11. What is the one thing your character dislikes about their life?
Nothing; no matter how bad things get, he's always been contempt with his life. There might be a few tears here and there about his family situation, but there's nothing saying that the feeling won't pass. He also finds that there's no reason to dwell on things for too long.

      12. If your character came into money, what is the first thing they would do?
Money is a useless, man-made thing to him. Just little bits of paper that litter the Earth and the hearts of mankind. It simply can't buy him the things that he wants most; peace, love, loyalty from others and a sense of family and security. Some could argue that money can buy all of those things, but he'd be caught dead if he resorted to bribery.

      13. If your character were immortal, how would they feel about it?
He'd probably feel really lonely and sick of life eventually.

      14. Is your character a coffee or tea person? Or neither?
Either! Though, it can be different for different times, and different based off of who he's with or what he's doing. His opinion about which is better can vary as well from time to time, but it's almost always either.

      15. What does your character dream about?
Realistically or metaphorically? Realistically, he'll sometimes dream about sitting on top of a cliff and watching the world below him; how it grows, and how it prospers into something much more magnificent. Either that or one of his many countless nightmares of his brother killing him in his sleep. Metaphorically, and secretly, he dreams about leaving Hell and finding his own way on Earth.

          • 1. What are your character’s thoughts and feelings about the supernatural?
She doesn't really see the problem with them. As long as they don't touch her stuff, she's good with generally everything that is anything. Over time she's become more open to the supernatural, but as a child she was to believe that lore was lore, and fairy tales were nothing but that.

            2. Does your character see themselves growing old with a spouse at their side or do they have different plans?
Let's just say that her younger self would have been disappointed in her older self for not being as wild or free spirited as she used to be. When she was younger she wasn't really into the whole 'love' thing and often thought that love was a made up word created so that selling your entire being to another kingdom seems like less of a scary thing.

            3. What is your character’s favorite book?
            Alice in Wonderland.

            4. If your character had to relocate somewhere in the world, where would it be and why?
She's always been more of a free spirit with the way that she navigates the world, and she can easily say that she'd rather reside in the depths of a really nice forest.

            5. What does the word ‘family’ mean to your character?
A family is nothing more than a unit of people who may or may not love each other. Family ties can easily be broken, and everything can go to hell in an instant. Though, she does find that sometimes family can be worth saving and fighting for, but only if they deserve it. Just because her father is her father does not mean that she looks over the fact that he's a tyrant, and even though there is no chance she would ever have a civil conversation with him, she does have her ways of getting back at him for not only her own benefit, but also for the people that he deliberately stole from.

            6. Has your character ever had a broken heart? Did they trust that person again - or would they?
No, she's never trusted anyone with her heart up until the point that she actually truly felt happy with another being. Her younger self would have believed her not to have a heart, but a husband and a child later her demeanor had completely changed. She isn't sure if she would ever trust him again should he ever break her heart, but that's subject to the situation.

            7. Does your character have a spiritual side?
Yes, she was born and raised under Christianity on account of her father, but she's never respected any ounce of religion. There are certain things she believes in -- angels, demons, guardians, etc. -- but she has never been one to make her own opinions based off of one story, one person's account or point of view. It's the reason why she doesn't trust writers who have strong opinions, and also because they seem to criminalize who they believe to be the criminal when it's only the assumption that is there.

            8. How would your character cope in a crisis?
Solve it with the most logical answer she can think of, which almost always results in the killing of one man or five. Crisis' have never been a thing that she ponders over too much, and will more often than not shrug anything off instead of carrying the burden on her shoulders.

            9. Your character’s thoughts and opinions on the word ‘forgiveness.’
Only if the person redeems themselves and proves that they're worthy of such a generous thing. Even after that, no one can truly be forgiven. And no one has ever lived to fool her twice, so redemption has to come just as quickly as the betrayal.

            10. What does your character think about when they are alone?
She revels in her past, and how glorious the moments to come will be. Other than that she's always planning something: Plans to ensure that she always stays one step ahead of friends, enemies, family, and unknowns alike. The plots that she conjures don't even have to be anywhere near nefarious, and can be something as simple as a birthday.

            11. What is the one thing your character dislikes about their life?
She has always resented her father, and the control that he has over her and her fate. Her brother is only a mild annoyance compared to her father. She finds it a travesty that such a man can be a king; after all his people had treated him with nothing but kindness and forgiveness, only for that kindness to be returned by tyranny and calculated attacks on the town.

            12. If your character came into money, what is the first thing they would do?
She has come into money, and she can easily say that money is nothing compared to the adventures she's had, and the lives that she has taken.

            13. If your character were immortal, how would they feel about it?
Ecstatic. More life to live means more places to visit, and she could have a chance to become old history and newer history. She'd probably love to pull pranks on people, and it can be even better if she were to stay young forever. Immortality could mean a lot of good things for her, but after a while she has no doubts that it would get lonely.

            14. Is your character a coffee or tea person? Or neither?
Only a couple variations of either.

            15. What does your character dream about?
She doesn't dream; when she sleeps, she sleeps like a rock. Realistically she doesn't dream; she makes things happen.

                  1. What are your character’s thoughts and feelings about the supernatural?
She doesn't think much about them, but figures there must be something else existing apart from humans and animals on and off this planet.
                  2. Does your character see themselves growing old with a spouse at their side or do they have different plans?
She's single, but would love to have someone to settle down with. It's unlikely that will happen at any time soon though.
                  3. What is your character’s favorite book?
                  Harry Potter series. Huge nerd.
                  4. If your character had to relocate somewhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Probably Canada or somewhere in the UK, perhaps Australia. Anywhere that's not America.
                  5. What does the word ‘family’ mean to your character?
                  Not only blood.
                  6. Has your character ever had a broken heart? Did they trust that person again - or would they?
She has and she has trust issues now because of it. V would never trust her family or ex gang members and ex friends again.
                  7. Does your character have a spiritual side?
Not really. Her AA class tends to take a religious approach sometimes, but she's indifferent.
                  8. How would your character cope in a crisis?
Used to be drugs and alcohol. She's clean now, though, and tries to draw when she's stressed out.
                  9. Your character’s thoughts and opinions on the word ‘forgiveness.’
"You can forgive all you want, but don't let yourself forget."
                  10. What does your character think about when they are alone?
"Girls, art, and how many days left in parole."
                  11. What is the one thing your character dislikes about their life?
V doesn't like how she ended up. She isn't proud of her charges or addiction, and she hates how vulnerable she still is to that addiction, even though she's been clean for so long.
                  12. If your character came into money, what is the first thing they would do?
Likely pay off her bills and debt, then get more tattoos.
                  13. If your character were immortal, how would they feel about it?
"Unlimited amount of pussy and free rein on life? Sounds like a dream."
                  14. Is your character a coffee or tea person? Or neither?
Verity survives on tea - fancy, fruity teas to be exact.
                  15. What does your character dream about?
The life she wants to live.

              • 1. What are your character’s thoughts and feelings about the supernatural?
Considering she lives in an apocolypse right now, she knows they exist. And hates it. She's certain there must be some good supernatural creatures out there.
                2. Does your character see themselves growing old with a spouse at their side or do they have different plans?
Not anymore. Not sense all hell broke lose on Earth.
                3. What is your character’s favorite book?
"I couldn't tell you the last time I read a book."
                4. If your character had to relocate somewhere in the world, where would it be and why?
                Somewhere free of the infected.
                5. What does the word ‘family’ mean to your character?
"Family members are the people you hold closest to your heart. Blood doesn't make you family, not in my opinion, but my parents and brother were my greatest gift and I miss them dearly. I hope to find a new family and maybe a better life."
                6. Has your character ever had a broken heart? Did they trust that person again - or would they?
Losing her family destroyed her, but she never had a romantic heartbreak.
                7. Does your character have a spiritual side?
She does. She hopes that there's a heaven, or at least a place better than this. She often talks to her parents or brother, imagining that they can hear her.
                8. How would your character cope in a crisis?
"The way I am now. Survival. I guess I'm doing a decent job."
                9. Your character’s thoughts and opinions on the word ‘forgiveness.’
"Depends on the situation. Some things are too petty to worry about, but other things are much bigger and unforgivable. I will kill every last firefly for what they did to my family and likely others too. They'll never be forgiven, not by me."
                10. What does your character think about when they are alone?
Her mission. Her goal. To destroy what took her life.
                11. What is the one thing your character dislikes about their life?
"What is there to like? The World is chaos and I've lost everything."
                12. If your character came into money, what is the first thing they would do?
There wouldn't be anything she could do with it now, so she'd likely hoard it somewhere in case it ever came handy.
                13. If your character were immortal, how would they feel about it?
On one hand, she'd hate her life more than she does now. On the other, she would certainly be able to destroy the Fireflys and all the infected. And maybe save the world."
                14. Is your character a coffee or tea person? Or neither?
Was a tea person, before everything.
                15. What does your character dream about?
"My old life. When I was happy."

                    5. Allegory
    • I clasp the flask between my hands even though the warmth from the tea has long since leached into the frozen air. I don't know why I'm out here in the below freezing temperatures rather than inside in the break room where it's much warmer, but I needed a break. A long one. Most of the time I love my job, trying to make a difference in the world and maybe save a life or two. But on occassion, it all becomes too much. Cause you know, once you're damaged, you can never really be fixed again. At least, not to as you were. I was whole once, but that was long gone. At least I'm stable now, able to hold a job - one working with youth that need a lot of help and direction. I never imagined myself working in a psych ward for underprivileged youth, but I also really couldn't imagine myself doing anything else anymore. I wanted to be a writer, but that dream left as quick as it came. Or rather, as quick as my friends left me.

Sam moved to the other side of the World. Paris, to be exact. She got a job offer that she couldn't refuse, apparently, even if that meant leaving me. I couldn't go with her, not when there would be no work for me there. She told me I could be a writer, live my dream and write about our adventures across the bond. But I said no. Because I couldn't be successful could I? I've failed thus far, so it's only to continue. But at least I still have Patrick. He lives in town, but I don't see him much. He tells me he's busy, but I keep seeing him post pictures on adventures with his new group of friends. I guess it's just me he's to busy for.

                • 1. What are your character’s thoughts and feelings about the supernatural?
He's intrigued by anything supernatural, and definitely doesn't shy away from actively pursuing it for further research, if he feels that it might be useful in the future. Apart from simply being an interesting subject to study, the supernatural could very well be a pretty decent source of power as well, and he isn't particularly fazed by the scarier supernatural beings either.

Does your character see themselves growing old with a spouse at their side or do they have different plans?
No. He isn't interested in romance at all, and doesn't plan to ever keep a partner around. He'd get bored of them eventually, or they'd get into the way of one of his plans and meet an unfortunate end at his hands. He's not opposed to having an on-off relationship with someone who can keep his interest, but a long time romance isn't his style at all, especially not one involving marriage.

                  3. What is your character’s favorite book?
He isn't picky, although he is partial to books that cover more controversial topics, or challenge traditional viewpoints/morals. Also, of course anything that can be used to study, as long as it was researched and written well.

                  4. If your character had to relocate somewhere in the world, where would it be and why?
If we're talking the real world and since I don't have a super developed world to put him into yet anyway, I always saw him as someone who'd be very content moving to a country like Greenland. Someplace that's consistently fairly cool, probably a smaller town where not many people live, or even an hour or two away from the closest town to be honest.

                  5. What does the word ‘family’ mean to your character?
Not much. His family no longer is of use for him, and he has no desire to be with them anymore. To him, the concept of having any kind of family is just another weakness.

                  6. Has your character ever had a broken heart? Did they trust that person again - or would they?
Never, and it's fairly unlikely that anyone will ever manage to break his heart. If anything, he's the one doing the heartbreaking, really.

                  7. Does your character have a spiritual side?
Does he believe in Gods and such things? Yes. Does he actively worship them and seek them out for guidance? No. Relying on anyone other than himself would be foolish in his opinion. Although some of his habits and rituals are certainly spiritual in nature.

                  8. How would your character cope in a crisis?
He's not one to really panic and get stressed when there's some kind of crisis, he's the kind of person to calmly and logically look for a solution to whatever the problem is.

                  9. Your character’s thoughts and opinions on the word ‘forgiveness.’
It's a weakness to be exploited and used to his advantages. Forgiving him is the last mistake some people make. And he himself? He doesn't forgive, nor does he forget. Cross him once, and he'll never forgive you - even if he might make you think he does, if he could possibly benefit from it.

                  10. What does your character think about when they are alone?
Honestly, you never know with him. Maybe what tea do have in the morning. Maybe what alchemy ingredients he needs to get his hands on for his next projects. Maybe how to murder one of his adversaries. He's full of surprises.

                  11. What is the one thing your character dislikes about their life?
There isn't anything he really dislikes - maybe the fact that he's not yet achieved all of his goals, but he's working towards them and success and victory taste so much sweeter when you have to work for them.

                  12. If your character came into money, what is the first thing they would do?
Buy a secluded home somewhere far, far away from civilization so he can finally get some damn peace & quiet while conducting research.

                  13. If your character were immortal, how would they feel about it?
He'd be pretty into it, honestly. More time to become more powerful, more time to do his research, more time to set all of his plans into motion.

                  14. Is your character a coffee or tea person? Or neither?
Tea. He prefers sweet things, and tea is generally sweeter than coffee.

                  15. What does your character dream about?
A lot of his dreams focus on past memories/experiences, actually. There's also a lot of somewhat surreal dreams that take place in locations he knows well - the most common location is a cave, hidden behind a waterfall, that's filled with glowing crystals.

1. What are your character’s thoughts and feelings about the supernatural?
“I don't think that the supernatural world really exists. Okay, maybe it exists a little bit. With the auras and stuff but I am not sure about the werewolves and all other creatures roaming around the earth. It would be pretty cool if they did, though. ”
2. Does your character see themselves growing old with a spouse at their side or do they have different plans?
“I definitely do hope that I can grow old with someone at my side, but honestly I don't know if I'm worthy of that. Some people always see the good in me, but I think I'm quite a shitty person. I really do hope that I will find Mr. Right and have like, a real wedding. But first and foremost I want Aiden to be happy. He deserves a partner more than I do. ”
3. What is your character’s favorite book?
“Obviously my favorite book is Jurassic Park. And the whole series. ”
4. If your character had to relocate somewhere in the world, where would it be and why?
“I'd go to London, I think. Something about Great Britain has always pulled at me. Perhaps because there are a lot of beautiful parks around there. ”
5. What does the word ‘family’ mean to your character?
“Family is a strange thing. The only blood-related family member I have is Aiden. And I hear Matt and Sam tell me time after time that I belong in their family, and that Serena has accepted me and Aiden as part of it, but... do I really? They barely know me. Family is the group of people you can trust blindly and be there no matter what. And while we do have a tight knit group, I don't necessarily dare to say if I am really considered family right now or that they just want me to feel included. ”
6. Has your character ever had a broken heart? Did they trust that person again - or would they?
“Brad has broken my hearts more often than not. And I was foolish enough to trust him time after time. Honestly, I don't know if I even distrust him right now. I am way too good at giving people second chances... And third chances, and fourth chances... ”
7. Does your character have a spiritual side?
“Not really. I'm not really a believer. I do yoga though but I don't know if that is the kind of spiritual you are looking for. ”
8. How would your character cope in a crisis?
“It depends on the crisis. If it is someone almost dying, I keep my head cool and do what needs to be done. I tend to wounds and make sure said person is okay. In a personal crisis, well... I panic. I panic until I can't breathe anymore and need Aiden to calm me down. I will get emotional and worked up about everything and I need people around me to calm me down because I only think the worst of things.”
9. Your character’s thoughts and opinions on the word ‘forgiveness.’
“Forgiveness is something I give almost continuously. I am not a person to hold grudges, even if I should. Maybe it is because holding grudges gets people killed in this world and I don't want people to die because I dislike them. Aiden always says I'm too good for this world. ”
10. What does your character think about when they are alone?
“Working out, dinosaurs, what I will eat for dinner. Working out, Working out... Aiden, Medical equipment... Working out... Did I mention working out? ”
11. What is the one thing your character dislikes about their life?
“There are two things I dislike. At first, I dislike my post traumatic stress. It can really ruin people's day. The other thing I dislike is that I am aware I accept the love I think I deserve... And that is not the healthy kind of love. I think it is because my parents never really accepted me for me the moment I came out of the closet. ”
12. If your character came into money, what is the first thing they would do?
“I would fill a room with dinosaur statues. Like the big ones. I'd love a dinosaur room. ”
13. If your character were immortal, how would they feel about it?
“It would be awesome! For the first decade or so, maybe. I don't know. It would probably suck especially if Aiden isn't immortal either... I don't want to see my twin age and die... I don't like death can we please move on? ”
14. Is your character a coffee or tea person? Or neither?
“Definitely a tea person. ”
15. What does your character dream about?
“A life full of happiness and no fear. That, and to have a child of my own one day... Even if it is probably hard because well, I'm gay, a gangster and single.”

My Favorite Books:
1. Fifty Shades of Grey/Darker/Freed - E.L. James
2. Buttons & Lace (and series) - Penelope Sky
3. The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
4. Halo - Alexandra Adornetto
5. Vampire Academy - Richelle Mead

Breakdown:
1. Antagonist: Jack Hyde
2. Protagonist: Pearl Barsetti (Plus husband Crow Barsetti and brother in law Cane Barsetti)
3. Opening sentence: "When I wake up, the other side of the bed is cold."
4. Setting: Venus Cove; a quiet picturesque town on the Georgia coastline
5. Genre: young adult fiction/paranormal romance/dark fantasy

~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I wake up, the other side of the bed is cold. I'm surprised that Crow is already awake and gone, although with everything happening it isn't that weird any more. The quiet town of Venus Cove had become our home a little more than a year after our marriage, in an attempt to find ourselves as far away from our main source of problems; Jack Hyde. Normally we call Italy our home, living on a grape orchard as Crow tends to his more legal business of wine making. Of course I normally help out as well, although we decided to leave to possibly outwit our less than legal contender Jack. Yes that's the other job my husband has that I have sort of gotten myself into. Crow and Cane deal in delivering guns to the highest bidders, and sometimes they aren't always legal methods either. You could call them a gang I suppose. But what was even weirder was the fact that I never thought that in this world that seemed so normal on the surface, that there were less than normal things lurking beneath the surface. Who would have known that vampires and other mythical creatures were actually real? Cause I certainly didn't when I started getting serious with Crow, and it came as quiet the shock. But that didn't exactly matter now. We loved each other.
Oh by the way, my name is Pearl. I guess I should have started with that in this journal. But hey this is mine, and I can do what I would like. Anyway, I should probably search for Crow, but knowing that he likely needed a drink means he will be back in little time. And no he doesn't drink blood all the time. Actually he is more of a scotch guy. Ooh I suppose you wonder why we are running? Honestly it wasn't what Crow had wanted to do, but it was either that or put our unborn child in harm's way. Yes okay I know this sounds like something out of a book, but no this is our life. And while Crow would have used all the money he has to send me somewhere where no one could get me while he dealt with the problem, I couldn't just sit by when I knew he would be in trouble. So here we are, in a quiet little town of Venus Cove in Georgia. This place was beautiful, with a nice view of the coast that we can head down to and walk along some nights. But nothing beats our home of Italy with the smell of grapes in the air. I just hope we can return there before our little one is born again. Oh Crow is coming back. I guess that's my first entry in this journal. Nice chat.
