- Where does your character feel most at home?
Connor doesn't really have a place to go anymore. Most of his life was spent in either a house full of drug addicts or in a mental asylum filled with strict rules and insanity. As far as he knows, not a single place in the world is able to become anything close to a safe haven for a person like him. Connor likes to be on his own and doesn't appreciate others invading his personal space; he feels safest when no one is paying any attention to his endeavours. Even if most of his usual hideouts are in abandoned buildings or dirty alleys, he prefers to be alone instead of being comfortable. Loneliness is his comfort zone.
What's your character's biggest regret? Are they willing to admit it?
He often thinks about standing up to his parents' abusive behaviour. As a child, he was a very shy and timid boy, who rarely ever argued with others. Connor is a man, who values all of his secrets, but he isn't stubborn enough to pretend that he wasn't at fault when it came to his family's demise. He is willing to admit that he could have done many things differently in the past, but he also knows that it can't be changed.
What is one value your character holds that they will never break?
Connor values respect, especially when it comes from other people. He doesn't speak to anyone, who chooses to ignore the fact that his mental state is unstable and that it's very difficult for him to function as a normal human being. Even if he usually tends to shut people away, Connor only does that because he lacks the respect other people receive naturally. He is a bitter young man and letting go of his pride is something that will never happen. Even if it leaves him all alone in their unfair, cruel world.
If your character had to lose one of their five senses, which would it be? Why?
He definitely wouldn't mind losing his sense of hearing; Connor has spent a big part of his life constantly hearing only bad things about himself; verbal abuse wasn't a stranger in his family. Even after he escaped from the cruelty of his parents, the youth was constantly greeted with nothing more but curses and growls from those around him inside of the mental asylum. Losing the ability to be exposed to something like that would bring him nothing more but happiness and peace.
What is your character's guilty pleasure?
He likes watching other people get hurt because of their misbehaviour. That is one of the main things which sets Connor apart from the general crowd and makes others fear him.
How does your character like to celebrate their birthday?
He doesn't. Age has become quite trivial to a person like Connor; there are days when he doesn't remember how old he is or when his birthday will happen. He has almost no friends to celebrate with and doesn't really see a need to feel happy about growing older and weaker as time passes by.
Has your character made a big sacrifice? If so, what is it?
Connor's younger days were one big sacrifice; he didn't have a normal life because of his family's addiction to various substances. He didn't have anything close to a normal childhood and is still upset and furious about it. While most of the people growing up in his neighbourhood were fairly happy and pleased with their families, he was forced to use his skills as a pickpocket and thief to keep his parents from beating him up on a daily basis. Not to mention that he was often forced to skip school in order to get money for his drug addicts of parents. Connor believes that this was his biggest sacrifice as a person.
How does your character clear their head when they are upset?
He often becomes fairly aggressive whenever something messes with his signature apathy and ignorance towards the world. Connor isn't a strong man and he tries not to hurt others, but his natural love for violence easily takes over his senses and makes him become even more dangerous to those around him. Anything can become a weapon in his hands whenever his mind is clouded and he isn't able to think straight. When that happens, only enough time will make his mind return to normal and stop attacking others.
What is your character's best subject? Worst subject?
Connor used to be a gifted mathematician back in high school; he had a good way with numbers and wanted to study economics after graduating. His weak spot was anything related to social studies; anything from politics to history was his weakness. Even now, he's pathetic at anything needing socialisation.
Does your character make friends easily?
Not at all. Connor is a shy, timid and reserved young man, who much rather prefers to stare at the wall for hours instead of talking to other people. Socialising is akin to his personal kryptonite.
What’s the most important memory your character has?
Finally realising that he was free from his parents' tyranny. Even if he was stuck inside of a mental asylum found in a completely different state, he didn't have to listen to the abuse of his closest family; Connor could finally feel that he was definitely free of their rule. Of course, the happiness of this memory rarely ever lasts for a long time because he always remembers what kind of nightmares followed quickly after he was registered in the hospital. Apart from this one, he doesn't have a lot of good memories.
How does your character display affection?
Again, Connor isn't really the person to openly display affection. He doesn't care about many people and likes to keep his feelings a secret from those around him. The best hint that someone can receive is that he tolerates their presence in his bubble of privacy and fragile personal space.
If your character had one day to live how would they spend it?
Not a lot would change. He has already abandoned the idea of ever becoming someone important in life and focuses on surviving from one day to another. Connor doesn't strive to reach something great and wants to be left to his own misery and sadness; having one day left to live would probably make him quite happy as he could spend it without thinking too much about his inevitable death. He simply wouldn't care.
What makes your character truly happy?
Nothing. Connor has been deeply affected by his anxiety disorders and depression, not to mention how his life had treated him until this moment. It's very rare to see him genuinely smiling; most that other people get from him is an arrogant smirk. Happiness isn't a familiar emotion to him.
What is your character’s favourite quote and why?
"Talking is a waste of breath, living is a waste of death." - the lyrics from a Fall Out Boy song, he truly believes in these words. It's most likely due to his rough life and the unfairness Connor has experienced that he stopped valuing his life and now sees it mostly as a hassle and a waste of time.
